The Lexington School and Center for the Deaf seeks to be an exemplary education, service, and research institution for the deaf and hard of hearing in metropolitan New York City and the nation. We seek to collaborate with the deaf and hard of hearing to realize their full potential in both the deaf and hard of hearing worlds; and take a leading position in concert with the deaf and hard of hearing communities in articulating the multifaceted challenges, opportunities, and needs for services of the deaf and hard of hearing.

The mission of Lexington School for the Deaf Foundation is to support the programs and activities conducted by Lexington School for the Deaf and its affiliates.

Summary

Lexington School and Center for the Deaf is comprised of the Lexington School for the Deaf, the Lexington Hearing and Speech Center, Lexington Vocational Services, and the Lexington Center for Mental Health. We are here to serve the needs of the deaf and hard of hearing community in New York City.

The Lexington School for the Deaf, founded in 1865, is the largest school for deaf students in New York State, and educates deaf youth ages 0-21. The Lexington School has been named by the U.S. Department of Education as a “School with IDEAs that Work” for its innovative curriculum – one of just 120 in the nation to be so honored.

The Lexington Hearing & Speech Center provides clinical services in hearing and speech to people in the five boroughs, including infants, children, adults, and seniors.

The Lexington Vocational Services Center provides deaf adults with job preparation, job placement and job coaching services; and works with employers to ensure a deaf-friendly workplace.

The Lexington Center for Mental Health Services provides skilled clinical services to deaf adults and children with psychiatric diagnoses, and early intervention services and counseling for deaf parents of hearing children, and hearing parents of deaf children.
