THE GIVING SPIRIT “REACH OUT SATURDAY 2011” Hundreds To Assemble And Deliver Charity To Homeless Women & Children In LA Saturday, June 10 and 11th, 2011 WHAT: The Giving Spirit raises money to purchase and assemble survival kits twice a year. The sixth annual “Reach Out Saturday 2011” event will take place on June 10 and 11th at a community hall in Brentwood. Our volunteers will have the opportunity to personally deliver each of the kits that they build to one of their unfortunate homeless women and children living on the street. We provide essential items – and hope to LA’s most vulnerable population. Friday Evening Assembly (register online at www.thegivingspirit.org) Friday, June 10 6:00 pm – 10:30 pm Volunteers set up an assembly line to pack smaller items into sub-assemblies for final kits. Women’s Kits • Baseball caps • Bottled Water • Conditioner • Deodorant • Feminine Napkins • First Aid Kit • Hair Brush • Lip Balm • Lotion • Manicure Kit • Shampoo • Soap • Socks • Sunglasses • Sunscreen • Toothbrush and Toothpaste Toddler Kits • Baby Sunblock SPF 45 • Baby Bottles (and Nipples) • Baby lotion • Baby Wipes • Children's Vitamins • Diapers • Formula - 2 Canisters Saturday Morning Assembly (register online at www.thegivingspirit.org) Saturday, June 11 8:00 am - 12:00 pm Volunteers fully assemble the final kits that will be distributed. Saturday Distribution and Outreach (register online at www.thegivingspirit.org) Saturday, June 11 10:00 am - 6:00 pm Volunteers will deliver the survival kit backpacks to the homeless community all over Los Angeles, from Skid Row to the San Fernando Valley to Venice. Backpacks will be delivered to TGS partner shelters: the Downtown Women’s Center (Skid Row), Up With Kids (Culver City), Upward Bound House (Santa Monica and Culver City), Covenant House, My Friend’s Place, Jeff Griffith Youth Center (all in Hollywood), and the San Fernando Valley Rescue Mission (North Hollywood). Timing of deliveries will vary by location of distribution. WHO: The Giving Spirit – a non-profit organization dedicated to helping the Los Angeles homeless population one individual at a time. .
