If you value sportsmanship, respect, honesty, time, & money, do NOT associate with Capitol Area Junior Wranglers. Our son had a horrendous experience; when I brought these issues to the attention of the team’s representatives (President, etc.), I was met with condescension, confrontational behaviors, and unprofessional emails; eventually, I was downright ignored. At one point, I learned that information we provided at certification was lost, adding to my realization that this team is highly unorganized (my son did not receive all of his playing equipment until AFTER the first game). A small list of our experiences, and why we recommend NOT dealing with CAJW: 1) coaches used profanity (such as, “Y’all played like p***ies!”), 2) some players were left out of practices for 1.5-2 hrs, 3) a parent-complaint-meeting was held at practice, causing obvious distractions (coaches were yelling at a father who requested more coaching & field time for his son), 4) coaches encouraged the team to “go out and kill ‘em! Take ‘em OUT!” 5) coaches yelled at boys “What’s wrong with y’all? You played like a bunch of 6th graders!” (1/2 were 6th graders, 1/2 7th & 8th). 6) Coaches demanded players only speak to them (not parents) about “problems,” & used intimidation to silence players who asked to participate more, get more coaching, etc. 7) Refusal (by coaches and team reps) to resolve complaints; 8) willingness to keep parents’ personal property as a revenge against those who do request their child(ren) receive coaching and time on the field (which is what parents paid for at registration/certification). In summary, our experience demonstrates this organization’s lack of interest in coaching OR enriching players’ lives. I highly recommend joining a Round Rock team that does not fall under the TYFA umbrella (Texas Youth Football Association), so you do not endure the same problems we did. No one at TYFA will acknowledge the existence of any rules/policies regarding teams' behavior towards players or parents. Our son asked us to remove him from the team because he didn't want to be around the coaches, or be subjected to their inappropriate behaviors. That says a lot when it comes from a 12 year old who loves the game of football, and has participated on various local teams for 8 years.
