Wipe Out Cancer in Our Lifetime

If you haven’t yet been directly touched by cancer, you will be. In the US, men have almost a 1 in 2 lifetime risk of developing cancer; for women, the risk is over 1 in 3.

In 2011, about 600,000 Americans are expected to die of cancer, killing more than 1,500 people a day. This makes cancer the second most common cause of death in the US, exceeded only by heart disease.

The NIH estimates the overall cost of cancer in 2010 was $263.8 billion. We can’t place a cost on the devastation caused to those suffering cancer or the heartbreak of the people who love them.

Let’s beat cancer.

At least half of all new cancer cases can be prevented or detected earlier by screening.

Lack of health insurance and other barriers prevent many Americans from seeking screening.

Scientists and doctors researching prevention, treatment and cures for cancer are handicapped by insufficient funds.

What can you do? Together we can serve cancer a one-two punch. By making a donation to the Charity Blossom Cure Cancer Fund, you fund education and early screening for at-risk patients, detecting cancerous cells when they are most treatable and providing treatment. In addition, we’ll fund the great minds grappling with improving treatments and curing cancer once and for all. Your contribution today can help prevent cancer and find a cure.
